Sustainable Coatings Using Alpha-Olefin Sulfonates

Alpha-olefin sulfonates (AOS) are cost-effective anionic surfactants with excellent emulsification properties in water-based systems.

Innospec’s NANSA® LSS surfactants are suited for a broad range of applications, including emulsion polymers (as an emulsifier/stabiliser), dyes (as a wetting agent), and construction additives (as an air-entraining agent).

AOS are readily biodegradable and free of 1,4-dioxane, making them a strong choice over alternative surfactants such as SLES and linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS).

NANSA® LSS 495/H

Sodium C14–16 AOS in dried powder form, for highly concentrated formulations. Excellent stabilisation of hydrophobic monomers in hard water environments and has a low CMC.

NANSA® LSS 38/AS

Sodium C14–16 AOS as an aqueous solution, allowing for convenience and precision when formulating. Can also be used to impart freeze-thaw resistance into concrete admixtures.
