We Partner with Businesses that Cultivate Community and Sustainability

Alfa Chemicals partner with many niche suppliers offering a speciality portfolio of a few ingredients. The core values for these partners, lie in supporting local farmers, working together with them in sustainable practices, and preserving the land that sustains them. They ensure a curated selection of high-quality ingredients, meeting specific needs and minimizing waste.

Meet the partners cultivating sustainability, one seed, one partnership, at a time:

Āluān

Direct from Simeulue Island, Sumatra Indonesia, āluān’s pure coconut oil is Rainforest Friendly, Organic Certified, and Sustainably Sourced!

Āluān are a female led business who were founded alongside conservation foundation EcosystemImpact. They integrate business and conservation in order to address the multi-layered threats to nature on their islands, in an integrated way.

EcosystemImpact conserves critically endangered sea turtles, songbirds and their habitats in the same landscape, whilst āluān partners with 500 coconut farmers to source fresh organic certified coconuts.

They nurture their relationships with farmers via coconut farming. They pay premium prices for their product, supporting with technology and aggregation, and regenerating farm land to conserve the forest and species in the area.

Āluān work closely with their farmers to establish seedling nurseries and replant coconut trees on 6000ha of existing plantations and degraded, unproductive land areas.

Koster Keunen

Koster Keunen has expanded their facilities with another branch, in Lomé, Togo. The new facility in West Africa, supports their sustainable beeswax program and employs its own sustainability manager within the staff.

Their beeswax supply chain in West Africa is a long-term commitment with cooperative and beekeeper groups. Koster's program improves the lives of beekeepers, farmers and the quality of their product. The results of this work can be seen in the quality of wax produced, the recurrent income at the local level, and professionalisation of the local beekeeping society.

Their beekeepers are paid a fair living wage, helping to elevate entire communities. This program touches 7000+ keepers, increases food production, and supports safe beekeeping practices. Koster Keunen wants to drive global change for the handling of bees and the cultivation of beeswax.

Forestwise

Forestwise was originally founded in the Netherlands in 2018 but have their own production site in Sintang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Forestwise utilise the abundant bounty of the rainforests of Indonesia, creating high value wild-harvested ingredients for the cosmetic and food industry, whilst respecting and maintaining the natural environment that produces them and generating local employment.

Forestwise’s mission is to #StopDeforestation and create #RainforestValue. Forestwise does this by producing Rainforest ingredients, creating more value for forest communities while increasing the value of the forest as a natural resource, and providing genuinely sustainable alternatives for consumers around the world.

They have developed a market for valuable rainforest products that are wild-harvested from the rainforest without damaging it. They have made contracts with over 1000 collectors from 31 villages in West Kalimantan in Indonesia to buy their illipe nuts. By buying the illipe nuts, the forest where the illipe trees are located becomes more valuable, providing the local communities with another reason to keep protecting the forest.
