Reactive Hot Melt Adhesives (PURHM)
Applications: Automotive, aerospace, wood, sandwich panels, cardboard and book binding.
Key Features: fantastic high adhesion values, high degrees of temperature resistance, high flexibility and resistance against moisture and solvent.
If you are looking to work outside of the maximum service temperature (60–80 °C) of Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) or are wanting to reduce the level of tackifiers and waxes in your system, formulating a Hot Melt Polyurethane would be a good place to start. It will offer a fast setting, tough yet flexible bond (even on difficult substrates). While providing excellent resistance to solvents and chemicals even at low application temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive substrates.
Stepan® offer both the Crystalline Polyol (base of the formulation) providing a short open time, low melt viscosity and high initial strength and both Liquid and Solid Amorphous polyol (used to adjust properties), enabling an increase of open time, lower melt viscosity, increased flexibility and improved adhesion, enabling total control in your formulations performance.

Applications: Flexible laminates for packaging applications (flexpack) are multi layer materials of paper, plastics films and metal foils.
Stepan® only supply ‘solvent free’ and solvent borne Polyester polyols that are designed for high performance applications. Providing superior adhesion to aluminum and polymer foils, while also delivering high temperature resistance and mechanical strength. Polyester polyols show good adhesion to difficult substrates where Polyethers fail.

Enables STEPANPOL® PC-5190-190 to provide thermal and acoustic insulation and render joints airtight, while still allowing water vapour to migrate, ideal for window & door installations.
