The revised draft includes important new derogations and recognises fluoropolymers’ essential role across industries such as semiconductors, energy, and healthcare. Key highlights include:
✅ Extensive derogations for fluoropolymer manufacturing—regardless of polymerisation aid type—when operated under controlled conditions.
✅ More than 75 application-specific derogations, including long-term and time-unlimited uses in critical sectors.
✅ Recognition of industry-led emission reductions, citing Chemours’ 99.97% reduction in water emissions as a benchmark for responsible production.
✅ Acknowledgment of the Fluoropolymer Product Group (FPG) Manufacturing Programme as a model for global best practices in emissions control and safe lifecycle management.
