A simple way to make elegant glossy lipbalms
7/31/2012 10:24:20 AM
Kesterwax K82D is a remarkable ingredient which can be used to create luxurious silky lipbalms with substantivity and high gloss.
This material, which is an ester of a vegetable dimer acid and a long chain fatty alcohol, mimics microcrystalline waxes to bind oil and gel it at extremely low concentrations meaning formulations are non-sticky and do not leave any taste residue.
The typical chain length of the molecule is between C76 and C115 therefore the gelling power is very strong particularly when vegetable oils are used, although the ingredient will gel most oils including silicones. Gels vary from opaque to nearly transparent.
INCI: Di-C20-40 Alkyl Dimer Dilinoleate
