IGI Wax appointed ALFA Chemicals as their stockist distributor in the UK and Ireland in 2008 to help develop their export market in Europe.
IGI Wax appointed ALFA Chemicals as their stockist distributor in the UK and Ireland in 2008 so they could develop their export market in Europe, particularly in microcrystalline waxes. IGI are based in the US and Canada and are a world leader in technology, development and manufacturing of wax-based products, IGI Wax offers microcrystallines, paraffins and wax-blends into many mind boggling applications ranging from paints, adhesives and inks to the slightly less usual, cheese coatings and vine grafting. Although the UK has yet to rival France in the wine growing!
Amongst the products are Microsere® microscrystalline range of laminating, hardening and coating waxes to enhance flexibility and modify rheology in coatings and adhesives. Accumelt® narrow melting point synthetic and paraffin waxes to improve mar resistance and release properties in inks.
Adhesives and Hot Melts: Microsere® microscrystallines are used as viscosity modifiers, to control open time and enhance bond flexibility
Coatings: Microsere® microscrystallines are used to modify rheology by controlling viscosity and as anti-settling additives. Corrosion inhibition properties come from the ability of waxes to form films and repel water. Also used as a gellant, adhesion promoter and to increase resistance to greases, water and gases.
Inks: Microsere® microscrystallines are used as gellants for solvent oils, to modify ink properties to change the slip, scuff and mar resistance. Accumelt® narrow melting point synthetic and paraffin waxes improve mar resistance and release properties.
Packaging: Microsere® microscrystallines are used to laminate, coat or harden carton and corrugated board and flexible packaging to provide a moisture barrier and flexibility.
