Logistics

Logistics is a key part of Alfa’s business and we understand the importance of ensuring that materials are delivered to our customers on time and safely. As such we place great emphasis on the quality of the service offered by our logistics department to ensure we reach the high standards demanded by our customers. Please see below for more information regarding Alfa’s logistics department.

Stocking policy

Alfa Chemicals holds stock of a wide range of regularly sold chemicals at its UK warehouse. The standard lead time for stock items is guaranteed delivery within 5 working days, express delivery guarantees delivery within 2 working days. Non-stock items are brought in to order; lead times vary depending on the manufacturer. To help reduce lead times for non-stock items we can arrange to hold stock of customer specific materials, provided that the demand is covered by a call-off order.

Warehousing

As well as its own warehouse in Reading, Berkshire. Alfa Chemicals uses specialist warehouse companies which have a long history of working with Alfa. The warehousing has approval for handling hazardous and restricted chemicals and has been approved by independent auditors from customers in the pharmaceutical industry.

Freight partners

Alfa Chemicals uses specialist chemical freight companies that have experience in handling hazardous materials. The partners we use have been pre-approved by our logistics and quality managers and have a long track record of working with Alfa.

Customer service

Our logistics department has a full time customer service function dedicated to monitoring the progress of customer orders to ensure any issues are dealt with as soon as possible and customers are kept fully informed of the progress of their deliveries.
