Oil Thickeners

There are several mechanisms by which oil can be thickened – some thickeners form a network which traps oil whereas others have a waxy structure which turns an oil into a solid. Oil thickeners are useful in formulations to stabilise an oil phase or add extra body and viscosity. In addition balms, butters and gels can be formed.
