JEFFCAT® Catalysts

 JEFFCAT® catalysts are used for a wide range of urethane applications including manufacture of polyether and polyester foams, elastomers, coatings and urethane plastics.

JEFFCAT® catalysts include:

  • General purpose catalysts e.g. DMCHA, PMDETA
  • Low emission catalysts / reactive catalysts e.g. DMAPA
  • Speciality amine catalysts e.g. DMDEE
  • Flexible Polyester foam catalysts e.g. NMM
  • Back-end cure catalysts e.g. TAP

JEFFCAT® DMAPA Dimethylaminopropylamine Used in many polyurethane foam (PUR) and flexible slabstock and HR moulded foam applications.

Other uses include surfactant preparation, corrosion inhibitors, ash-free lubricant additives, producing electrophoretic coatings, clothing anti-static preparations. Derivatives and reactants could also be used to make pharmaceutical preparations.
JEFFCAT® DMCHA N,N-dimethylcyclohexylamine Widely used general purpose catalyst for polyurethane foam (PUR).
JEFFCAT® DMDEE 2,2-dimorpholinodiethylether A selective blowing catalyst for flexible foams.

Used in coatings, adhesives and one-component moisture cured systems.
JEFFCAT® DMEA N,N-dimethylethanolamine Typically used in flexible foams and polyurethane foams (PUR).

Used as an acid scavenger in polymeric isocyanate systems.
JEFFCAT® DPA N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl) -N,N-diisopropanolamine Low emission catalyst, gives good flow, used in flexible foams, polyurethane foam (PUR) and in elastomers and RIM (reactive injection moulded) systems.
JEFFCAT® NEM N-ethylmorpholine Gives rapid surface cure in flexible polyester foams. Used in rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) for packaging.
JEFFCAT® NMM N-methylmorpholine Solubiliser for flexible foams. Used in rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) packaging foam.

Starting formulations on JEFFCAT® NMM in polyester foam are available upon request.
JEFFCAT® PMDETA Pentamethyldiethylenetriamine Highly selective rigid polyurethane foam (PUR) and polyisocyanate foam (PIR) catalyst.

Recommended as a co-catalyst to improve cure rate and processing of PIR laminate broadstock from polyester polyols.

Recommended for rigid urethane refrigeration applications.
JEFFCAT® T-12 Dibutyltin dilaurate Widely used as a crosslinker for the polyol-isocyanate reaction.
JEFFCAT® TAP 1-methyl-4-(2-dimethylaminoethyl) piperazine Rigid polyurethane (PUR), Slabstock and moulded flexible foam co-catalyst with good end-cure catalyst that improves flow on gelation.

Catalyst for elastomers and RIM (reactive injection moulded) systems.
JEFFCAT® TD-100 Triethylene diamine (TEDA) Strong gelling catalyst, used as an activator in flexible polyurethane and rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams.

Catalyst for elastomers, coatings, adhesives and RIM (reactive injection moulded) systems.
JEFFCAT® TD-33A 33% Triethylene diamine (TEDA) in dipropylene glycol Standard general purpose amine catalyst for polyurethanes. Used in most foam types – slabstock and moulded flexible foam, rigid polyurethane (PUR) foam.

Catalyst for elastomers, coatings, adhesives and RIM (reactive injection moulded) systems.
JEFFCAT® ZF-10 N,N,N’-trimethyl-N’-hydroxyethyl-bisaminoethylether Efficient high blowing catalyst. Non-fugitive catalyst as it is incorporated into the polymer.

Used in flexible foam and rigid polyurethane (PUR) packaging foam especially when low emissions are required.
JEFFCAT® ZF-22 70% Bis-(2-dimethylaminoethyl)ether in dipropylene glycol Typically used in flexible slabstock and moulded foams and rigid polyurethane foam (PUR).

Used with other amine catalysts to balance blowing and gellation.
JEFFCAT® ZF-24 23% Bis-(2-dimethylaminoethyl)ether in dipropylene glycol Typically used in flexible slabstock and moulded foams and rigid polyurethane foam (PUR).

Used with other amine catalysts to balance blowing and gellation.
JEFFCAT® ZR-70 2-(2-dimethylaminoethoxy)ethanol Mainly used in rigid polyurethane (PUR) packaging foams.

Non-fugitive (can react with isocyanates to be incorporated into the polymer) and highly reactive catalyst for moulded foams.
