Catafor

Catafor from Rhodia is a range of conductivity additives and antistatic agents for use in polyurethane, paints and other industrial applications. Catafor products are used to prevent the build up of static electricity or to dissipate it, thereby removing the possibility of electrostatic discharge.

Catafor can be incorporated into the polymer matrix as polymer additives to create a permanent solution to the build up of static electricity, or applied directly to a surface to form a temporary protective film.

Benefits of cationic Catafor grades

  • Control of electrostatic discharge at low concentration
  • Permanent antistat protection
  • Minimal effect on processing reactivity
  • Minimal effect on other polymer properties
  • Soluble and stable in polyol components
  • Moderate toxicity
  • Free from corrosive chloride ions

Benefits of inorganic Catafor grades

  • Effective in dry and humid conditions
  • Greater heat stability
  • Compatible with high temperature polymer processing
  • Do not contain amine derived chemical

Popular Catafor grades are detailed in the table below, other grades are available.
