Reactive Intermediates

Reactive intermediates are used in a chemical reaction to create a new product.  They tend to be highly reactive and can be used to allow for a more selective reaction and to reduce side reactions and contaminants.

Reactive intermediates are used to create many products including surfactants, lubricants, coatings, polymers, detergents and urethane catalysts.

Product Group Description Manufacturer
Capstone® (Previously Zonyl®) DuPont Capstone® (Previously Zonyl®) range of fluorosurfactants, penetrating sealers, repellents and intermediates are used in coatings, inks, stone & tile, films and homecare I&I products. DuPont
Ethyleneamines Huntsman Ethyleneamines are primarily used as reactive intermediates due to their high reactivity they can form polymers, act as hydrophiles in surfactants, interact with metal ions and metal surfaces, be acid scavengers and be quarternised. Huntsman
JEFFCAT® Catalysts Huntsman JEFFCAT® catalysts have a wide range of urethane applications including manufacture of polyether and polyester foams, elastomers, coatings and urethane plastics. Huntsman
JEFFSOL® Carbonates Huntsman JEFFSOL® alkylene carbonates are non-VOC, safe, green solvents. Also reactive intermediates replacing ethylene and propylene oxides, and ethylene and propylene glycols in many reactions Huntsman
Morpholine and DIGLYCOLAMINE® Agent Huntsman’s Morpholine has numerous applications including amine neutraliser, emulsifier, reactive intermediate for detergents, coatings. DIGLYCOLAMINE® Agent (Huntsman's DGA® brand) used as a wetter, emulsifier and an amide in metalworking, electronics. Huntsman
