Chemyunion have made a long-term commitment to sustainable sourcing by purchasing their very own area of virgin Amazonian Rainforest.

Chemyunion have made a long-term commitment to sustainable sourcing by purchasing their very own area of virgin Amazonian Rainforest.
The Brazil-based producer of botanical active and texturising ingredients for hair, body and skincare have invested in 900 hectares of untouchable rainforest close to Guajara city in Northern Brazil.

Ethically grown and harvested ingredients
The farm provides employment for native communities of Gaujara and Cruzeiro do Sul, helping to fight poverty in the region and encouraging local people to provide for themselves.
Raw materials grown and harvested by Chemyunion for use in their Chemyforest range include:
- Astrocaryum murumuru (BR Forest, ActiveShine Amazon, Sensactive Veg and Chemysoap)
- Theobroma grandiflorum (Cupuaçu) (Chemyforest Cupuacu FG and Sensactive Veg)
- Mauritia flexuosa (Buriti) (Melscreen Buriti FG)
- Euterpea oleraceae (Açaí) (Chemyforest Acai FG)

The seeds, kernels and fruits are carefully collected by traditional methods to ensure sustainability, and are processed locally to produce natural oils and fats.

Local partnerships
Chemyunion also work in close partnership with a farm in South East Brazil which grows Ecocert organically certified plants, which are then harvested by Chemyunion for use in their organically certified products.

Chemyunion’s employment policy is based on fair pay and working conditions, trading agreements which provide long-term commitment to development in local communities, and respect for native culture. Chemyunion is against the use of child labour.
